Postal services in Kerala state region are conducted by Indian Post under the control of the Director General of Post office in India since 1854. Although various other modes of IT communication can also be available frequently and they are using also on a wide range by the masses but the postal services offered by government’s oldest institution “The Indian Post” is still maintain the decorum. The services of Indian Post are most significant in the areas that are less developed and are the only source of sending or receiving messages from one person to another whether from near or far.
The post-offices handle most of the state's inbound and outbound mail and parcels. It is also responsible for providing the postal needs of state Lakshadweep and Mahe. Services provided by the Kerala Postal Circle includes speed post, logistic post, direct post, business post, e-payment, money transfer and many other services.
The head Post Offices in Kerala Circle are:In Northern Region, there are head post offices at Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Kannur, Taliparamba, Thalassery, Vadakara, Quilandy, Calicut, Calicut Civil Station , Kalpetta, Tirur, Ponnani, Manjeri, Malappuram, Ottapalam, Palakkad, Olavakkot and Alathur.
In the Central Region, the head post offices are at Alapuzha, Cherthala, Aluva, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha, Changanacherry, Kanjirapally, Ernakulam, Kochi, Thodupuzha, Kattapana, Irinjalakkuda, Chalakudy, Kottayam, Pala, Vaikom, Thrissur, Kunnamkulam, Wadakkancherry, Thiruvalla and Chengannur.
The head post offices in the Southern Region are Kollam, Karunagapally, Kottarakara, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam, Adur, Pathanamthitta, Punalur, Thiruvananthapuram GPO, Attingal, Thycaud and Neyyatinkara.
